CHIMES is a research programme led by the University of Aberdeen and National Services Scotland Information Services Division (ISD). The aim of CHIMES is to improve the safety and effectiveness of medicines used to treat children by developing more efficient systems for drug monitoring and surveillance. CHIMES addresses two main questions:
- is it acceptable to children, parents/guardians and to healthcare professionals for routinely collected healthcare records to be linked and used for pharmacovigilance studies?
- how accurately and effectively can linked healthcare data be used to identify potential adverse drug reactions in children?
